Why am I doing this?
The recent NAR ruling is supposed to “reinforce greater transparency for consumers”. Well, what is more transparent than showing people what a good agent does and letting the consumer choose if they want to hire someone or not.
I hope homeowners use this; I hope potential buyers use this; I hope newer agents use this as a guideline.
I’m not saying my way is the ‘end all, be all’ way but I do always put the consumer first and that should be at the heart of every good agent.
There are a lot of people and real estate trainers and coaches that preach “This is a business… treat it like a business….. you just tell your clients when you are available…” and yada yada yada.
And while an agent needs to have business sense, we are not in the business of selling houses unless you are a flipper! Good agents are consultants, we are advisors. We should be hearing what the consumers goal is and assisting in achieving those goals.
Yes, I already hear people saying… Okay, my goal is to sell my $500,000 house for 1million for cash in 2 weeks…. Help me achieve that goal. Uuuhhhhh… no.
We would advise this isn’t possible and show you what the market is doing. There is never an exact worth of a home or a perfect price but there is something I call time vs money that heavily impacts the starting price point.
Okay, I have gotten slightly off point. Let me circle back to why I am doing this. Transparency. Knowledge. A passion to make the industry better.
